Spending Time In Seattle (2013)

I have been in Seattle for a few weeks now, but I am so wrapped up in projects that I have barely stepped outside the building. It was a special occasion today though so we all ended up going over to Alki beach, and my cousin and I fulfilled our promises of taking our nieces to the Ferris Wheel.

All of the images have failed to load.

This is most likely a TimThumb permissions error.

Go to the Justified Image Grid settings, TimThumb & CDN tab. Click check permissions then click 0755 or 0777 to see if that works (or do it manually on the files and folders it lists there in case chmod fails).

Also read the troubleshooting guide in the documentation on what else to do.

Tip: Install the official WP plugin 'Jetpack' by Automattic and enable 'Photon'. Jetpack enables you to connect your blog to a WordPress.com account to use the powerful features normally only available to WordPress.com users. It's an excellent TimThumb alternative and will make your images load faster. Note that you won't be able to use special effects due to cross-domain security limitations. It'll also make Justified Image Grid high resolution display or Retina ready by devicepx.js! Read more at: jetpack.me

Another possibility is that you are using W3 Total Cache to minify JS - turn that feature off.

WordPress: Remove Unwanted Scripts and Stylesheets

I love developing in Wordpress and a large part of that has to do with the various plugins out there. However, I don’t really need the plugins to load on every page – Nextgen Galleries I am talking about you! I present you with the following code to remove unwanted scripts and stylesheets from loading on every page or only have them load on specific sections/pages.

Road Trip to New England

I took a quick road trip to NYC and New England this past week. It was a spur of the moment decision on my part, but it was worth the time to experience the sights, sounds, and most importantly the food! I tried out lobster claw bloody mary, took some photos of the Portland Head Lighthouse, and went for a swim and run in Walden Woods.
