Road Trip to New England

I took a quick road trip to NYC and New England this past week. It was a spur of the moment decision on my part, but it was worth the time to experience the sights, sounds, and most importantly the food! I tried out lobster claw bloody mary, took some photos of the Portland Head Lighthouse, and went for a swim and run in Walden Woods.

All of the images have failed to load.

This is most likely a TimThumb permissions error.

Go to the Justified Image Grid settings, TimThumb & CDN tab. Click check permissions then click 0755 or 0777 to see if that works (or do it manually on the files and folders it lists there in case chmod fails).

Also read the troubleshooting guide in the documentation on what else to do.

Tip: Install the official WP plugin 'Jetpack' by Automattic and enable 'Photon'. Jetpack enables you to connect your blog to a WordPress.com account to use the powerful features normally only available to WordPress.com users. It's an excellent TimThumb alternative and will make your images load faster. Note that you won't be able to use special effects due to cross-domain security limitations. It'll also make Justified Image Grid high resolution display or Retina ready by devicepx.js! Read more at: jetpack.me

Another possibility is that you are using W3 Total Cache to minify JS - turn that feature off.

The Best Personal Backpack for Life

We live in a replacement culture where it is simply easier to buy a new item than fix an old one – particularly when it comes to a disposable item like a backpack. I am stepping outside of that mentality to search for a highly crafted backpack that will fit all aspects of my life rather than just one particular area. Will the Tom Bihn backpacks fill that need?

My Travel Lessons Thus Far

It took me months to even come to the decision that I want to leave and go travel, and it took even longer to work up the courage to actually go through with it. The pictures will highlight the places I have been, but the more intriguing bits are the things I have learned. I won’t be able to write everything and even when I do I am sure that I won’t be able to do it justice, but here are some of it.
